Our publications class would like to produce a video yearbook using (of course)
currently popular songs as background music. The yearbook would be duplicated (on
DVD) and sold to students at marginal cost (basically just enough to cover
materials). Yes, I KNOW this is a copyright violation. No need to inform me of
that fact! :)

My question is... is there a way to use the music they want and make it legal? How
(and who) would I go about contacting to get permission? Recording company?
Artist? It may be futile, but we do have some lead time and the students are
hopeful. Plan B would be to use production music, of course.

Thanks in advance.
