Hi, I would appreciate a response from anyone who knows the law well enough to comment. Our orchestra teacher wishes to use video clips from musicals as a visual background (no sound, just the visual scene) for an upcoming Spring concert where the students play related music. She will project them using a data projector and said she is willing to use video clips of any length supported by the law. Some of the pieces are from The Sound of Music and Oklahoma. Is this Fair Use? Or does she need to get permission from the originators? If OK, how long may the clips be? If they charge for attendance would that be a factor? Thank you.
