I can see this being true on occasion, but it is the way that a rubric
gets developed and used rather than the concept itself.  As with just
about everything, the devil is in the details.

If we as teachers aim at nothing, hitting that goal 100% of the time
would seem to be pretty easy.

IMHO that would very likely be worse ...

I think rubrics can ruin learning because they over dissect.  In
addition to that, it is an ugly sounding word.  It resembles a sound an
ugly nocturnal Australian marsupial might make.   I wish it never found
its way into education and hope its use will soon vanish into thin air -
not to be replaced by anything!
