Thanks to the generosity of Home Depot and Lowes, I took 32 paint sticks, created
design templates and spray painted them a variety of bright colors and designs. The
kids love them and use them religiously to mark the shelf where they have removed a
selection for consideration. The only problem that I have had so far are when the
younger kids argue over which one they want to use. : )
I have not used them as holders for ID barcodes as we have a lot of students and
teachers and it just isn't feasible due to number needed and storage issues during
the school year. However, I do have heavily laminated library cards with bar codes
(thanks to the previous librarian) and the names are removed and replaced as needed
since they are simple address labels that I place on the outside above the barcode.
Right now I am removing the 5th graders from our database and their old cards will
become the cards for our incoming PreK and K students.

Hope that information helps somewhat!

Reading is not a duty, and has consequently no business to be made disagreeable.
