Our guidance counselor is at her wit's end with one particular class's behavior,
especially one incorrigible student in it. He misbehaves almost all the time and
now all the other students are trying to "get away" with the stunts that this one
student pulls. We have had discussions about "fair and equal" and are really
having trouble how to approach this behavior dilemma, well, fairly and honestly.

Can anyone think of a book / story that might deal with this? We hope to help the
majority of the kids (who, blessedly, do not have such issues) develop some
understanding for the one student in the class who has become a thorn in everyone's
side.

Honestly, my heart goes out to this little boy. In a small community such as ours,
we often know the background and realize, NO WONDER, this kid can't comply. But
then there are all of those other children who want to see things dealt with in a
fair manner. They need to be respected, too.

I tried to get my counselor to distill her request to one sentence. We have been
working on it all afternoon and this is the best we can come up with.

If you happen to know a story that might be of use in such a situation, would you
please e-mail me, off the list. The students are in second grade.

In advance, thanks!
