To be honest, I would hesitate to buy any propriatary book reader. I have many books in formats which neither Kindle nor Nook are set up to read, yet my ancient Palm PDA handles just fine - if I changed to either of these devices I would actually be taking a step back in some ways. Rather than looking at dedicated ebook readers, I am looking forward instead to the growth of all-in-one devices. In a few years, I expect to be able to buy a device which can read books in a multitude of formats, surf the web, take pictures, play music and videos, and act as a phone as well if desired. That said, if I were in the market for a new ebook reader today, I would probably look at a netbook (if my first priority was having a decent screen size) or an iPod Touch (if I was more concerned with portability).
