We use OPALS. http://opals-na.org/

It is an open source system, which is entirely web based.
This is our 3rd year, and we are very happy with it.

Harry Chan, who started Mandarin, now runs OPALS.

Pros. Good pricing, easy to use interface, extremely responsive
customer service. Can handle non-English alphabets (we have a sizable
Hebrew language collection).

Con. It hasn't been around as long as Follett and Mandarin, so it is
still growing and improving. However, if I have had a problem, or find
something the program can't do that I need - a call or email gets a fast
response and often a very quick program update.
It is web-based, which means if your web service goes down or very
slowly, so does your program. On the other hand easy to check stuff from
home (that could be a pro or a con!)

We had Follet Circ/Cat prior, and I don't miss it!

Subject: TAR: What Cataloging System do you use and do you love/hate it?

You all have been so amazing answering all my author questions and now I
have a bigger question. I have Mandarin cataloging and may have the
opportunity to either upgrade it or change to a completely new system.
If you love what you have can you just let me know which system it is or
if you don't please let me know that. You need to go to the trenches to
get the truth!

PS I am an elementary school if that helps

Thanks so much!
