I've already got Picasa, Google Sketchup & Windows Moviemaker... Then what? Martha (Marty) Vaughn Director, Holland Library Girls Preparatory School Chattanooga, TN martyv@gps.edu -----Original Message----- From: School Library Media & Network Communications [mailto:LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU] On Behalf Of Leslie Radloff Sent: Wednesday, October 21, 2009 9:30 AM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Subject: Tar: Cataloging question Good Morning, group! At a meeting last night it was mentioned that barcodes need to be streamlined and that books no longer need spine labels. Right now, information on the barcode provides title, call number and numerals of the barcode as well as the symbol that the scanner reads. I'd like to hear not only from the group, but from people teaching cataloging about this new idea. Comments were made that so many of us in the district finished our degrees so long ago tat we were out of touch. My own last cataloging class was in 2007. Apparently, that apparently makes me a dinosaur in cataloging. This isn't so much a cataloging issue as a system (Destiny) issue. Bring on those comments and I shall pass them on.
