I'm working on a basic information literacy unit for fifth graders, with one lesson being about magazines and journals. I have a "Books from start to finish" lesson that covers the entire process of a book's creation, beginning with an author's good idea and ending with a library book in a student's hands. I'd like to do a similar lesson for magazines and journals, and am looking for a book or website that explains that process. I've found several lesson plans for teaching students to use magazines, or to find articles, but nothing that explains their origins. Anyone know of a good one?
