Subject: FW: [LM_NET] FW: 2010 Census It's about us!" kit-Explained

Karen McLachlan asked who these packets where addressed to. Here is Tom Adamich's
reply.

Soon your school's principal-and other K-8 principals across the country-will
receive a 2010 Census: It's About Us Principal's Kit.
This exciting nationwide program delivers key lessons to students and provides
information about how important the census is to your community and to the country
as a whole.
Media specialists like you are veterans at introducing teachers to new materials
and technologies that match real-world classroom needs. We've made it easy for you
to make 2010 Census: It's About Us a vital part of your school's curriculum this
coming school year.

Your school's principal will soon receive a
kit with 10 full-color, double-sided maps and
quick-start teaching guides with activities
ready for immediate use.
Your colleagues will find printable lessons,
corresponding worksheets, and support
materials online at www.census.gov/schools.
Their students will have grade-appropriate
lessons on mapping, managing data,
community participation, and the census itself.
Schools will receive print materials, all of
which are also available online.

Each state in the U.S also has a Complete Count Committee for their state. Some
are better organized than others. I'm working for ours her in OH. Karen can
contact me if she has OH-specific questions. We also hope to present info. on it
at OELMA next month.

Hi. Thanks. I'd tell the media specialists to ask secretaries, etc. if any of the
maps, etc. may have been sent separately and routed to different people (Social
studies, etc.). That way they can help those people make sense of what's there.
I've also attached the letter in case the Census Bureau decides to pull it off the
Web (which would really cause a snafu if the materials were already shipped; at
least they'll have the letter if they got it from LM_NET and your kindness:)

...Hope this helps.

Help, they're asking questions. Can you explain a bit more?

Sandy,

Do you have any idea who they are addressing this resource to?
Libraries? Social Studies teachers? Administrators? Sounds
interesting but I may never see it, depending on who it's addressed to.

Thanks,
