Thanks so much to my responses....not too many....but helpful! It is tough to find books that challenge students academically but are also age appropraite content-wise. Thanks again! If you go to the Renaissance Learning site under AR quiz store, you can print out lists of titles for a specific reading level range. Even if you don't use AR, this might be a good place to start. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden Cute Is a Four Letter Word by Stella Pevsner Speak Laurie Halse Anderson Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson, Lori Earley A Yellow Raft in Blue Water by Michael Dorris I'd tell you that I love you but then I'd have to kill you (and it's sequel) Princess Academy (NOT at all Disney Princess style) Tree Girl (T A Baron) Any of Koenigsburg's books Dessen's books (romance-y)may be too much boy/girl to the plot... Hunger Games and Cathcin Fire The Uglies series by S Westerfeld Jerry Spinelli's Star Girl Sonnenblick's books Google the Texas Lonestr booklist-- and check out their offereing-- they are usually very good. Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer Ashes by Lasky Chains - Anderson Fever 1793 - Anderson Mystery of the Third Lucretia and/or Rescuing Seneca Crane by Runholt Victoria Abens Librarian Academy of Notre Dame 560 Sproul Rd.
