I know that I read this story years ago. I have not found a full text on line, but I think that it is "The Survivor" by Walter Moudy. It is out there in a couple of different older anthologies. Maybe Abebooks to find one that is out of print? A teacher described this story to me and I'd love to find it--it reminded us of the Hunger Games. The description is pretty sketchy, but maybe it will ring a bell for someone. Set at some point in the future, there are no longer any wars, instead each country sends a representative to a war game. The individual who wins gets whatever they want (above the law, etc.) forever. There is a disturbing scene at the end where the winner goes into a house and takes a girl upstairs (against her will and presumably to rape her) and her parents can't do anything about it. Anyone? Thanks for your help! Amy :) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Amy Carpenter School Library Media Specialist Stillwater Middle/High School 334 N.
