Good morning all: I am sure that there is a simple way to do this, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet so if someone could help me. One of our Jr. High teachers is asking me to help her class with using the EBSCO magazine database for a controversial topics paper that she is having them do next week. These students are in 8th grade but many of them are ESL and thus at a lower level than some in reading. She said that the last time we did EBSCO with this group (last fall) many of them got discouraged because they couldn't understand many of the articles that came up. Since we encouraged them to use either the "Student Resource Center" or the "Kids Search" portion of EBSCO both of us assumed that this would mean that the articles were simpler than the ones that you would get with the regular database. This didn't prove to be true. Since I usually use this database with our older students and they have few problems with it, I have vowed that I am going to figure out how to make this work for ALL of our students if possible. Also, although I don't have much say in which databases we subscribe to (we are the "sister" school of a much larger school where these things are usually decided) if someone knows of a better deal out there than EBSCO, please let me know and I can put a bug in a few people's ears and see where it goes. Thanks for your help everyone!
