Mmm ... What most people tend to forget when talking about traditional literacy -
reading, writing, viewing, speaking, listening - is the 5th and most important
component - understanding!

Subject: [LM_NET] Share: What is literacy?

There was a fascinating article in the NY Times magazine this weekend about
literacy and the visually impaired. Although the article talks about how few
visually impaired people now use braille, and therefore are technically illiterate,
the concept of literacy is something that can be argued for everyone now, with
audiobooks, text readers etc. Good food for thought.....

A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the
end. You live several lives while reading it. -William Styron, novelist (1925-2006)
