school & public  libraries:

Mathews, John Joseph.  "Sundown" (1934)--also consider his "Wah Kon  
Tah: The Osage And White man's Road" (1932). Old but worth a second look

Welch, James.  "Fools Crow" (1986)--also consider his "Indian  
Lawyer" (1990).

Smith Martin Cruz.  "The Indians Won" (1970).

Birchfield, D. L.  "Field Of Honor" (2004)

Earling, Debra Magpie.  "Perma Red" (2002)

Medawar, Maudi Oakley.  "Murder On The Red Cliff Res" (2002)--1st in  
new mystery detective series--consider her other "Tay-bodal" series.

Treuer, David.  "The Hiawatha" (1999)

Momaday, N. Scott.  "The Ancient Child" (1989)--of course also his  
"House Made Of Dawn" (1968).

Ortiz, Simon J.  "From Sand Creek" (1981).

Silko, Leslie Marmon. "Gardens Of The Dunes" (1999)--also consider  
"Almanac Of The Dead" (1991).

Erdrich, Louise.  "Antelope Wife" (1998).

Alexie, Sherman.  'The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part-Time  
Indian" (2007)--also consider his "Reservation Blues" (1995) & "Indian  
Killer" (1996).

Glancy, Diane.  "Pushing The Bear: A Novel Of The trail Of  
Tears" (1996).

Marshall III, Joseph. "Long Knives Are Crying" (2008)--2nd in the  
fiction series beginning with "Hundred In The Hand"--has written  
numerous other books.

Conley, Robert J.  "Nickajack" (1991)--also consider his "Real People  
Series" such as "Dark Island" (1995).

Steber, Rick.  "Buy The Chief A Cadillac" (2003).

Riddle, Paxton. "The Education Of Ruby Loonfoot" (2002).

Bruchas, Joseph.  "Geronimo" (2006)--has written numerous other books.
