I am working on inviting the elementary schools in our area to the public library to celebrate 'colonial day'. I have been lucky enough to be chosen as 1 of 20 libraries in the nation to receive the John Adams Unbound traveling exhibition through the National Endowment for the Humanities. The exhibiton arrives in 3 weeks! I have an amazing speaker coming to speak to middle school and high school students, but would really like to find a way to get some elementary classes here. I am targeting 4-6th grade, and was hopping to do a day where they come and travel to various stations to learn about colonial life. SO, does any one have any suggestions for the stations I can put together? I don't have a ton of money, but would like to make as much of it hands on as I can. I am open to all thoughts and suggestions to make this a successful adventure for the students.
