Hello, I'm new to LM_NET, so I hope that I am doing this correctly. I have
two specific questions and welcome any information that anyone would like to
share regarding elementary library, i.e. lesson ideas, promotions,
incentives, procedures, etc. This will be my first year in the library, it
is an elementary school K-5. It was previously K-3 and the 4/5 grade did
not have library classes at the middle school, so I'll be somewhat starting
from scratch with this group.

1) We are moving to a 6 day rotation of classes. Can anyone in a similar
schedule give feedback about how you work volunteers?

2) I am collaborating with the local public library to host a "Back To
School Book Party". I am planning to have teachers present to read aloud
and also bring any summer reading. I'd like to encourage children to bring
their summer reads as well and have some open discussion. Has anyone ever
done this before or something similar? The public librarian wanted a little
more information and I was comfortable having the event somewhat open-ended,
but I can also create an outline for greater structure. Just seeing if
anyone has any feedback on this topic.

Thank you all in advance - being a part of this list serv has been SO
helpful already and you all offer such a wealth of invaluable knowledge.
