[LM_NET] TAR: 8th grade read-aloud

Hello,

I need a some read-alouds for my gifted 7th/8th grade class. They are  
studying the second half of the 20th century so something set in each  
decade from 1950's to the 1990's would be awesome!

As a class they are reading:

>> The Outsiders
>> Criss Cross
>> The Secret Life of Bees
>> The Things They Carried

So something that the teacher can read to them other than one of these  
titles would be appreciated! These students are gifted, so YA or a  
great J FIC would be good.
