I usually reply just to the person with the query, but this was so powerful for me 
I thought I'd share will all.
 
In the (January?) School Library Journal there was an article that was the first of 
a series about teaching the ART in picture books. I'm not going to be very good at 
paraphrasing the article, I can tell already, but my "take away" was that I wasn't 
having fun reading to my K students because I was squelching all the fun they 
needed to be having looking at all the details.  I used to try to coach kids when I 
was going to be telling a story that "Needs no interruptions!"  (really) and when 
it was a book "we can stop and talk about every once in awhile"   Now I realize I 
need to let my audience be fully participating and helping to decide when we 
interrupt.
 
Anyway - the article is really good.  Either in the January or Feb issue. I've 
passed on my copy and I'm too lazy to check into the website for you right now.  ;)
