Have you read *One Grain of Rice* by Demi? In that story, a young woman is
asked to name her reward after doing a good deed for the raja. She tells the
raja that she wants one grain of rice. The raja is shocked that this is all
she wants and asks if he can give her something better. She then asks for
one grain of rice that day but for each of the next thirty days the raja can
double the rice she got the day before. By the end of the thirty days, the
young woman has earned 1,073,741,823 grains of rice - enough to feed the
entire village.

What does that have to do with GLMA? If each current GLMA member reached out
and recruited a new GLMA member our ranks would double. The reward? Each new
member application containing the name of a recruiting member will go into a
box from which one lucky application will be picked for FREE Summer
Institute Registration for both the new member and the current member.

Increasing our numbers is not only good for GLMA, but good for every school
librarian in the state of Georgia.  Why is this important?

   - Because it makes our voice stronger at the state capitol.
    - Because our members work tirelessly, through grassroots efforts, to
   keep library media centers in the forefront of public education funding
   decisions.
   - Because our members learn new skills from each other through
   GLMA-sponsored professional development programs and conferences like Summer
   Institute, the COMO conference, Library Media Specialist of the Year,
   grants, and more.
   - Because while one voice can be powerful, many voices speaking together
   can change history.

Regular membership is just $30 ($15 for retired professionals and $12.50 for
students working toward certification).  So, current GLMA members, I
