In addition to the access issue that Jennifer raised ( incidentally pretend your computer is broken for a few days and see how disenfranchised you feel) the issue of cost is a biggie for most of us. I love some of the electronic resources --but-- I have to pay for them each and every year ( fortunately, at least for now, the State of Michigan does that for our libraries) The cost of these resources is usually in the thousand + dollar range. So next year I have to have the same dollars again just to keep even.-- if I don't have the money I've lost ground not stayed even. If I spend some money on books I at least have something useful in my collection for all my students. So we need a wise mix of both types of resources. Seems to me I remember reading something about books being obsolete that was written many many years ago. I too see our library very busy - the computers were about half full the other day but the parking lot was full of people who had multiple volumes of books in their hands.
