I passed this idea along to our 7th grade LA teacher and she was excited to try it. It was almost win-win: 1. The kids actually enjoyed the activity. (it's not alwayseasy to inspire 7th graders) 2. The teacher thought it was a perfect way to kick off a poetry unit. 3. The creativity shown was very good. 4. I got lots of thanks for the suggestion. The only negative was that the library was a total wreck by the time the last class built their poems. But that's a small price to pay for all the positives. Thanks, LM_NET for all the wonderful things you share with the rest of us to make our jobs easier and more fun.
