I understand both sides of this discussion. I work in a low wealth district and our funding has been reduced tremendously and so has our local economy. This is the first year that we will allow summer checkout for our students in grades 9-11; our seniors will have a cutoff date of May 28th. We hope to encourage reading throughout the summer seeing as the AP and honor students will have summer reading assignments.
