Thanks to everyone who responded to my question-- which was twofold :
whether or not to interfile, and asking for ideas for making the
switch involve as little book shifting as possible.

I have a two story library with reference downstairs and non-fiction
upstairs. The reference already circulated. Fiction, graphic novels, a
college section, and the teacher collection were already downstairs as
well.

Everyone agreed that it was a good idea to interfile.
Most people recommended tables and carts to handle the books being shifted.
Some people recommended putting the most circulated Dewey categories
downstairs, but I'm afraid that sounded confusing.

I am just going to bite the bullet, and maybe over the summer start
shifting. I do have one half of a range empty in the summer, which I
use for new book display when school is in session.

Thanks so much for your input!

Diane
