Last year I took my middle school students to our local library. We are a very small town and were able to go during the class period they were in the library. That kept them from missing any of their classes which made my teachers happy. Some of my kids actually said they didn't realize that we even had a library. The librarian talked to them about checking out books and had pamphlets ready for them about the summer programs. Several were so excited to get a library card. It was great. Have a great day! That's a good idea! Maybe some of the last days of library time can be spent on a school library sponsored field trip to the local libraries to get the kids started on their use of the PUBLIC library! Our elementary students have similar field trips to study about local history (museums and parks), service jobs (firestation, city hall, etc.), production (peanuts, etc.) during the last days of school, so why not take them to the Public library?
