Celebrate labor history month in May with a study of the labor movement that helped shape our nation. With the recent passage of AB 172, Wisconsin schools are required to teach labor history as part of the social studies curriculum. Luckily, there are lots of great websites that bring the events and people of the labor movement to life. Engage students by reading diaries of child workers from the past and then watching videos about current child labor problems, or use music as a gateway to labor history by studying songs of the labor movement. Find it on the Surf Report from the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board. http://www.ecb.org/surf or on Delicious: http://delicious.com/ECBSurf/bundle:LaborHistory Peggy Peggy Garties ECB -- Media for Wisconsin Schools 3319 West Beltline Hwy.
