Good morning,
I'm interested in hearing from schools where the students are responsible to
purchase their own textbooks. My question is this: What do you at the beginning
of the year when you inevitably have students who did not purchase books in time
for school to start? We have this happen every year and students want to make
copies of entire chapters of textbooks. Obviously, that makes for some copyright
dilemmas. Our temporary solution has been to require a proof-of-purchase (such as
an order confirmation or email receipt) before we make copies of textbooks and
we'll only make copies of what a student needs for homework that night. That way,
I at least know that a student has purchased the book and is just waiting for it to
arrive. They're not just waiting trying to copy to avoid purchase. It's pretty
cumbersome though, so I'm interested in hearing anyone else's experiences/solutions.
