Hello all,
I will soon need to re-catalog and re-barcode my entire collection. I will soon (I
hope) be getting Destiny. We are a small PK-12 school library with approx. 20,000+
items. Our automation system crashed almost 2 years ago, backup didn't work, etc.
etc.
Here's my question:
Do you give certain parts of your collection a specific range of barcode numbers? I
will have PK-12 level books/materials, VHS/DVD, equipment, etc. Ex. Do your barcode
numbers for HS FIC begin with a certain number so when you see just the barcode
number you know what part of the collection it goes in?
Also, if you barcode students/staff, do you use a specific range? I guess I'm
trying to figure out how to barcode from scratch. Hope this makes sense.
Any help will be much appreciated. I will compile responses without your names and
e-mail addresses.
Please send any responses to:
ebradbury3@yahoo.com
Thanks!
