To clarify some misinterpretations. The Tech Lab that will be
placed in my library is not a computer lab for students to come in
and work in. It is an area for a Technology I class, which will
have 17 modules that students will work at in rotation, including
robotics, bridge-building, lasers, etc. The only modules that have
any application to what I consider applicable to libraries are the
desk-top publishing and audio-visual modules. But only two students
will be able to work at the desk-top publishing, and the a-v lab is
taking over my conference room. The Tech Lab will also have a shop
area containing drills, saws, and other quiet instruments.

The admin wants it in the library so that kids will get interested
in it. It's for "show and tell time". One administrator told me
not to worry if all my materials wouldn't fit back in. I wouldn't
need to buy as much new stuff, because we could get it all off of
CD's and electronically. (This is when I had the temper tantrum.)

My biggest worry is not having room for both materials and students.
All of my existing shelving won't fit back in. At the moment, I can
just barely seat two classes and 10-15 kids on passes. With the new
plans I will be able to seat one class and 15-20 kids on passes. So
much for trying to bring in more students.

Hope this clarifies my previous request for help! Write me, call
me, FAX me, or meet me in LA at Midwinter?
