Our district will be doing some shifting next year. New attendance boundaries have been established. About 100 elementary students will "move" to a different elementary school, increasing the population at one school and decreasing it at another. The principal at the school that will see increased population wants the other school to send along a percentage of its library collection. While this seems logical on the surface, I have some reservations. Serious reservations in fact. (insert concerns regarding how collections are developed here) How have others handled this kind of situation? What would you say to the principal to help him understand why this is not the best solution? Or am I overly concerned??
