Teachers and staff were called in and told of the situation one or two =
grade levels at a time this morning.  Security was tightened and we were =
asked to not discuss this with students.  We were asked to be brave and =
professional and keep the day business as usual.  As we are a K-5 =
school, it is thought best to leave discussion up to each family.  A =
number of parents picked up their children throughout the day.  We had a =
short staff meeting again at the end of school to discuss what to say to =
students when they return to school.
My high school daughter said they mostly sat around and watched the tv's =
today.  My middle school daughter said she found out 3rd or 4th period =
when a teacher turned on the tv to start an instructional video.
All after school activities, including the parent meetings in several =
schools tonight, were cancelled.  School may be canceled for tomorrow.
My husband works in Fairfax, about half an hour or so from the Pentagon. =
 They were sent home early.  He said smoke from the Pentagon could be =
seen from his building. =20
I guess I never imagined that such an event could occur in America.
