I have a related question: When printing a batch of barcodes by barcode
list, I've noticed that they print in the order of the call number not the
barcode. Is there a way to make them print in barcode order? What am I
missing?

Subject: Retry: HIT: How to batch print barcode labels in Destiny

To those that found my last HIT unusable I apologize.

I know there has to be a way to print a whole page of barcodes after
cataloging items and a whole page of spine labels but I haven't learned that
yet. (new user of Destiny) If anyone can explain how to do this I'd greatly
appreciate it. I realize that there is something in reports about barcodes
and spine labels but, again, I don't know how to do this.

This website offered by Paula was particularly helpful. Thanks.

Here's a list.

Go to Back Office to Reports. The page that comes up gives you options.
THere is one for Barcodes. It is the first of the two in that section.
Click. Once on the page you will be asked a series of questions. I always
opt for barcode list and type them in. It seems more efficient because I am
also changing old barcodes to 14 digit numbers. Be sure to click on all the
options you want at the bottom of the page: School name and the others.

Spine labels, basically the same beginning except go to "Spine labels".
Those are in little blue script on the reports.

Once your reports are in, click on "Run". Go to Inventory or Circ, and then
click on the third option on the menu at the right when you are in Back
Office. The reports should be done. You can view them before printing.
Print. and then delete them.

You probably already have an answer, but when you go to the sections
mentioned, you can print barcodes based on the date they were added. For
me, that seems to be the easiest way to print after a large batch of
cataloguing. I also created a list called Barcodes to Print. As I come
across things that need to be reclassified, the labels are damaged,
etc., I add them to this list. Then, when I have several, I print them off.
--------------------------------

Find barcode labels in the reports. Click on the Used tab at the top right.
Choose the appropriate items. Usually, we select by date added and then
choose today's date on the calendar.

The first time you print barcodes you will have to mess with the setup or
they won't fit on the labels correctly. (Our settings for Avery 5160 lables
were horizontal 8, vertical 0 but that may be different for different
printers.) After you run the report, refresh the list then you can view it
in Adobe. When you print from there, be sure page scaling is set to none and
auto rotate and center is off.
---------------------------------------

I creat a new resource list, add all of the new books
to that list, and then print the barcodes and spine
labels by list.
Hope this helps!
