Highland High School opened in the Fall of 1993 and is currently in the process of outcomes accreditation. I am on the problem solving/critical thinking target area committee and would like to see the Big Six approach adopted on a school wide basis; however, some of the faculty do not share my enthusiasm for this approach. On Tuesday, December 13, I am scheduled to do a presentation to some key faculty members and would appreciate your input on the following if you or your school are involved with the Big Six problem solving approach: (1) What do you or your faculty see as the major advantage(s) ofthe Big Six over other problem solving approaches? (2) What "hooks" have you used to get faculty buy-in for this approach? (3) What activities/techniques have you used with those "doubters" who do not see application of the Big Six to their curriculum? (4) Do you have any suggestions for pre/post test measurement of this approach with a random sampling of students on a class or school wide basis? (5) Have you done any inservices on the Big Six? If so, what made them successful? Please send responses to my e-mail address <highlrc@enet.net> Thanks in advance for your help. Dick Trzicky Library Director Highland High School LRC 140 S.
