 Thank you for your comments on the proposed School of
 Information Management and Systems here at UC Berkeley.

 Currently we are establishing the mechanisms and getting
 the necessary approvals to proceed with creating the school
 and hiring a dean.  Only after that is done will we
 engage in planning curriculum, identifying faculty needs,
 and recruiting students.

 Currently we expect to recruit a dean during 1994-5 and
 to plan further implementation during 1995-6,
 with the first students admitted perhaps fall, 1996.
 We will hold your comments for consideration at the
 appropriate time.
