interracial couple at prom

Dear fellow netters--
A student today asked for more information about a situation in the
southern U.S. that she had heard on the news last week...it seems an
interracial couple or child of an interracial couple was denied
permission to attend a prom and the principal was suspended.  since it is
so recent, our indexing does not help--anyone out there who knows where I
can find more infor for her, please respond individually.  Thanks.
