Joan,

     I suggest that you begin your odyssey of the 'Net by training your
faculty to simultaneously subscribe to a listserv, such as ISED or a
subject-appropriate one, and begin e-mail communications with a colleague
at another school.  After this beginning, you can launch them on the path
to discovering subject-appropriate gophers and usenets.  If you need more
details of my school's faculty training plan, please let me know.
