The Education of Little Tree

Help,

This morning, as I was gathering books from my son's summer reading list to
check out for the summer, I ran across a problem exposed by our new
Winnebago online catalog.  In 1978, when the book The Education of Little
Tree was purchased, it was cataloged as Biography.  The catalog lists it
that way, but the tracings say "Cherokee Indians - Fiction."  A teacher who
was in the library at the time told me that there had been some controversy
over this book by Forrest Carter in past years.  I am totally unfamiliar
with this book and have no sources with which to check the reviews which go
back to 1976.  Can anyone help?  Please respond to me directly at
