Workshop: K-12 EDUCATION, ELECTRONIC PUBLISHING, AND DIGITAL LIBRARIES:
 CREATING THE FUTURE TODAY

ANNUNCING A FREE WORKSHOP AT THE NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL COMPUTING  CONFERENCE,
PRESENTYED BY SCHOLASTIC NETWORK

With: Brewster Kahle, President, WAIS, Inc.
      Susan Mernit, Director of Network Development, Scholastic   Network
 Len Simutis, Director, Eisenhower Clearinghouse for Math
        and Science, Columbus, Ohio

For:  NECC attendees who are state education network adminstrators,  district
technology coordinators and network adminstrators, others involved in
 educational telecommunications, particularly on  the Internet

Date: June 14, 1994
Sessions: 2-4, depending on enrollment.
Times: To be announced.  Each session will be one hour and 15 minutes  in
length.

Place: National Education Computing Conference, Boston,Massachusetts

Cost: NONE
If you are publishing your resources and projects on the Internet or
are interested in doing so, and will be attending NECC, thisworkshop
may be for you. Join the presenters in a workshop presentation focused on the
following questions:
 o What are the implications of electronic Internet publishing for the K-12
world?
 o What are the key issues in publishing materials on the Net?
 o What are the core tools?
 o What's required to create and maintain free and commercial Internet
publishing centers?
 o Who's out there developing Internet centers to serve the K-12
           community?
 o What value does electronic publishing and digital libraries
  offer to K-12 students, educators, and schools?

At the end of each session, participants will receive information on
model projects, pointers to exemplary Internet resources, and guidelines for
using available Internet tools.There will be time for Q&A and discussion.

3) DEADLINE: JUNE 8, 1994

Applications received after that date may not be accepted. Slots will be
filled until capacity is reached. Participants must be NECC attendees.

NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE
You will receive electronic, email notification of your slot in the
workshop by June 10, 1994. The time and location of your session at
NECC will be mailed to you at that time.
