I was the in the fourthgrade when Kennedy was shot. I went to a small country school which is church-affiliated. Whenever a member of the congreation died, the church bell tolled once for each year of the member's life. I remember that the church bell tolled such a short time and our community was so small that it was a mystery who had died. When our minister came to tell us taht President Kennedy had been shot, I remember thinking that the President was second only to God; shooting the president was out of my realm of reality.
