Hello Dover Air Force Base Middle School 8th graders,

I was younger than you are now when I learned of President Kennedy's
assassination.  I was in Mrs. Marcheske's 6th grade, doing a spelling test.
Our principal came on the P.A. system to announce that the President had been
shot.  My teacher started crying, and I remember having a sick feeling.  When I
got home my parents acted as though someone very close to them had died, even
though they had never met Mr. Kennedy.  I also remember watching the funeral,
when John-John Kennedy, the President's son who was about 4, stood and saluted
his father's coffin as it went by on a horse-drawn wagon.  I think that was
when I cried.
