Calif. Mission books

Help!  I am trying desperately to find info on Calif. missions, written at a
4th grade reading level that students can use to do their mission projects
(build a mission replica, basically).  I have many adult resources, but
nothing that kids can use.  Also, where can I find info on specific Ca Indian
tribes, preferably one tribe per book?  I'm looking and finding a little bit!
 I'd be happy to send a HIT on this if anyone can tell me how!  This is my
