Eric Partridge's ORIGINS states that poop comes from Medieval French
(pope) derived from Latin (puppis) "The Stern of a Boat."

The next entry in ORIGINS states that poop2 -- to toot,
gulp, break wind -- comes from Medieval English (poupen) "to bubble."
