Here's another idea!   Have you seen the book published by Oryx called
exploring the great lakes states through literature?  (there is a book on
each region).  I have to mention it since I'm the co-author of the Minn.
chapter.  We included about 180 materials; ficiton, non-fiction, print
and non-print.  I expect each state has about equal coverage.   The book
was published about a year ago (my friend and I started our work in Ocot
91--it didn't get published until Nov. 93 which was a real lesson in how
long publishing takes.).   The emphasis is on materials for grades k-8,
but we found it was very hard to find materials at the lower level so we
included a lot of adult materials with recommendations that they are for
more matrue readers.
