ITHACA, N.Y. -- Putting Consumers in Charge: Credit Education Strategies,
a national videoconference originally scheduled for December 1, has been
rescheduled to December 7, 1994, from 12 Noon to 2 p.m., Central Time.
The conference, which is being presented by the Cooperative Extension
System and American Express, was set to broadcast during the same hours as
the National Rural Conference, a day-long satellite videoconference on
rural policy featuring President Bill Clinton and members of his cabinet.
Everyone who has already registered for the conference will be notified of
the date and time change.
Putting Consumers in Charge: Credit Education Strategies, is a "train the
trainers" conference for community educators, lenders, consumer credit
counselors, community development representatives, military family support
services representatives, Employee Assistance Professionals, and others
representing community-based programs. Participants will learn techniques
proven successful in reaching and teaching consumers about credit choices,
costs and control and will have the opportunity to call in questions and
network with speakers and other program participants.
There is no downlink fee for the December 7 videoconference, but
pre-registration is required. For additional information contact Jayne
Hager Dee at Iowa State University, 1094 LeBaron Hall, Ames, Iowa 50011 or
