> My first question is: Is _The Scarlet Letter_ read in your school and how? > Is it part of the curriculum or suggested reading list or individual > student choice? It is read as a class set in American Literature which is junior year. Some of our novel reading is being handed over to history teachers, even though the English teacher gives the literary background. Example, the English teacher teaches about John Steinbeck and the literary era, while the history teacher teaches about the Great Depression. Students read _The Grapes of Wrath_ at that time. I'm not sure the teaching of the Scarlet Letter occurs the same way. > > The second question is: Approx. how many students read it annually? About 150. Betty bhamilt@tenet.edu
