ELEM.Need primary books on Handicapped, Ill

To everyone:   I have a fourth grade teacher who would like to assemble
many picture books and easy chapter books with characters who are
handicapped or have chronic diseases.  Every sort from paralysed or blind
or struggling with cancer or mentally slow.   She likes "The Balancing
Girl" by Rabe.  Any more suggestions will be gratefully accepted.  I'll
post a HIT if I get enough replies.
