Hi everyone! I'm hoping to have some luck with this message considering my track record--last time I posted to the list I found a job! :) I have a fourth grade student who studied Island of the Blue Dolphins in Language Arts. He is doing a research paper on the girl the book is about. He and his father have gone to public libraries and have found very little information. It would not surprise me if someone out there has already done research on this. I'm turning to you before I hit the Web. She is the Lost Woman of San Nicolas according to the author's note in the book. The student and his father say she was given the name Juana Maria and they think she was a part of the Gabriolino indian tribe. That spelling is an approximation, sorry. Any help you could give, even if just a point in the right direction would be a great help. Thank you and happy holidays.
