Greetings, Elementary School Media Specialists! I am posting some creative poetry you may want to share with your teachers. We have been learning poetry and writing poetry all year. Instead of keeping a poem in our pocket, we are keeping them in our heads. So far, we have learned "Talking", "Rope Rhymes", "Things", "Indian children", "Homework, Oh Homework", "When Tillie Ate the Chili", and at the present time we are working on "I Wondered Lonely as a Cloud". I'm sending some of our latest original poems about Washington and Lincoln. Oh My Dear Washington Oh my dear Washington Why did you cut that tree? For this your father put you across his knee. The story has been told by me I simply can't see Why he cut down that tree by Brittany George Washington George Washington was our President, But he isn't any more, He always had a good score. He chopped down a cherry tree. And he never told a lie, Now we celebrate his birthday be eating cherry pie. By Neely Lincoln Lincoln, Lincoln, I've been wanting to know What have you done? I freed the slaves and saved all their days. So they can go their separate ways. There are no feelings of woe. Their old life was no fun. by Wesley Lincoln Lincoln freed the slaves from the darkness of the caves. To the lightness and the brightness. Even thought Lincoln is dead he is still in my head. by Ashley Posted by Tywanna Burton School Media Specialist Vestavia Hills Elementary West 1965 Merryvale Rd.
