Ellen--I was hoping to see some other responses to your query before I opened my mouth (once again) and inserted my foot. However, since my scan of subject heading indicated no other responses, I will foolishly take a bite. Some of the mail I've received of late indicates that there are quite a few people who believe that decisions of appropriateness relative to the selection process are NOT censorship, at least not for school libraries. However, once an item has been added to the collection, choosing to do something different with that item or (in this case) a particular issue of the magazine, would seem to these folks (and me) to be censorship. Of course, this very topic has long been a subject of debate among library professionals. But I find the topic VERY interesting. Any other comments out there?
