Software for English

As so often happens when beginning new programs, the cart comes before
the horses are even hooked up.  An English teacher is sitting in her
classroom with 10 computers (CD-Rom, hard drives, etc) and no
software to accompany. Her remedial classes (grades 10 and 11) are
supposed to use pertinent computer programs with the hopes of
increasing student aptitudes in spelling, vocabulary, reading
comprehension, etc.  She does not know where to begin in purchasing
computer software that might provide skill builders in these areas.
If you can, please share and I will forward information to her.

Also, does anyone have experience utilizing the Electronic Bookshelf
program that deals with book reports?
